Job Summary

The Wolverine Wellbeing Educator will assist in developing, coordinating, and evaluating health and wellness initiatives for the university community. This position promotes student well-being through educational programming, outreach, and engagement activities using the eight dimensions of well-being as a framework. The Wolverine Wellbeing Educator will work collaboratively with campus partners, student organizations, and wellness professionals to enhance the overall student experience. This position reports to the Senior Director for Health & Wellness.

Responsibilities*

  • Use data obtained from NCHA, HMS, and Student Needs Surveys to design , and execute health and wellness programs, including but not limited to workshops, fitness challenges, mental health awareness campaigns, and nutrition initiatives.
  • Lead and facilitate wellness-related events, such as stress management sessions, mindfulness activities, health fairs and the annual Week of Wellness.
  • Develop and distribute educational materials on topics related to wellness, including sleep, substance abuse prevention, and sexual health.
  • Coordinate peer education initiatives and mentor student wellness ambassadors.
  • Assist in data collection, assessment, and reporting on program effectiveness and student participation.
  • Research best practices in university wellness programming and suggest improvements.
  • Help coordinate program materials and logistical needs for events.
  • Maintain communication with campus partners, faculty, and external wellness organizations.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority
  • Additional expectations include, but are not limited to, confidentiality of sensitive information (especially as related to FERPA protected records), timeliness with communication and deadlines, and follow through to complete assigned projects.


Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, for related fields; or acceptance into a University of Michigan dual degree/coterminal program.
  • Strong people skills with sensitivity to the needs of students.
  • Self-motivation and discipline to carry out independent tasks.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to work with highly detailed information.


Modes of Work

Hybrid

The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Background Screening
