Job Summary
Logistics, Transportation & Parking is seeking a full time Customer Service Representative to act as a Parking Ambassador for the patient and visitor parking structures at the Michigan Medicine parking facilities.
Responsibilities*
- Drive parking facilities and scan license plates by using Patroller system
- Assist patients and visitors by directing them to available parking spaces
- Direct patients and visitors to their destination inside the hospitals, escort patients and visitors to areas inside the hospital
- Greet and screen patients and visitors at the parking structures
- Redirect non-patient and visitors to other parking areas, inform customers of alternative parking options by giving directions and handing out maps
- Monitor parking space availability, monitor full conditions of parking facilities, redirect patients and visitors to available parking spaces and/or parking facilities
- Assist patients and visitors with location of vehicle upon their return to the parking facility on foot or by use of motorized vehicle
- Assist parkers with use of parking equipment (may handle customer's credit card and/or cash) to assist them with the transaction
- Assist parkers with items they may need to their destination, as necessary (wheelchairs, strollers, belongings, etc.)
- Act as a customer service ambassador to Michigan Medicine
- Report any suspicious behavior to DPSS (Michigan Medicine Security) and supervisor
- Monitor and report suspected unauthorized parking activity
- Use university vehicle to drive to other locations to assist in parking operations
- Maintain areas of the parking structure by assisting in cleaning, removal of trash, salting icy areas and snow removal
- Report any elevator outages to supervisor
- May work in a different classification depending on departmental staffing needs
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in a hospital setting
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to stay active/moving for most of the shift
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions
- Ability to move/transport 30 pounds
- Must have a valid drivers license
