The Intermediate Project Manager, Look to Michigan Vision (LTM Vision), is an agile member of a small team working on behalf of the LTM Vision and the $1B Strategic Initiative Fund (SIF). Working closely with the Executive Director, Strategy and Implementation, you will help execute the LTM Vision and support SIF processes across the U-M community, including all three campuses and Michigan Medicine.

You will coordinate and implement a variety of projects, help administer the SIF call for proposals from solicitation through funding and reporting, develop project plans, monitor implementation, and help ensure timelines and deliverables are met. You will also partner with U-M and external stakeholders to clear roadblocks, build momentum across the vision's impact areas and commitments, and collaborate across functions and levels with integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities*

The Look to Michigan Vision

  • Manage LTM Vision projects within or across the five impact areas and six commitments
  • Create plans and manage timelines for LTM Vision work, ensuring deliverables are achieved on time
  • Support U-M theme years by partnering with theme year staff on programming, events, budgets, and marketing and communications
  • Use problem-solving skills to assess gaps or roadblocks and design solutions in service to the LTM Vision
  • Document all phases of project execution from planning through implementation, including creating and measuring key performance indicators along the way and employing project management software, as needed
  • Forecast project timelines and keep the team informed on status using a variety of delivery methods
  • Employ creative problem-solving skills to ask the right questions, anticipate emerging needs, and handle or advise accordingly
  • Translate leadership and/or U-M community needs into actionable projects and tasks
  • Plan and execute communities of practice, working groups, and/or other engagement strategies


The Strategic Initiative Fund (SIF)

  • Collaborate with the LTM Vision office and SIF implementation team on implementing SIF calls for proposals
  • Refine and strengthen SIF application and evaluation processes for ease and efficiency
  • Track SIF application, review, funding, and reporting processes
  • Manage reporting on SIF KPIs from funded initiatives
  • Draft, send, and monitor correspondence to university stakeholders on SIF operations, including managing the [email protected] inbox
  • Conduct evaluation of proposals to the SIF by type, theme, or domain for university leaders
  • Recommend changes to SIF operations based on rigorous evaluation and assessment practices


Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of experience applying project management principles and best practices in a complex organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent, multi-phase projects from initiation through implementation and completion
  • Demonstrated ability to gather information, analyze data, and solve problems to move work forward
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and complex logistics
  • Demonstrated ability to create project structure, workflows, and implementation plans in ambiguous or evolving environments


Modes of Work

This role is hybrid with on-site expectations in Ann Arbor three days per week. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

This is a 5-year term-limited appointment with the opportunity for renewal.
