NOTE: Please include a cover letter specifying qualification and CV uploaded as one document. This appointment will be for one term per academic year with the expected effort for one class being 25%. An offer should be presented to the finalist by December 15, 2025, with a start date of January 5, 2026.
SMTD seeks applicants qualified to teach an ensemble course called Javanese Gamelan for Beginners. This position is being offered in Winter 26, but will move to a fall-only class starting in Fall 26. Students of the course include undergraduate music majors and non-majors and graduate students. In addition to being able to teach Javanese gamelan ensemble independently, the successful candidate should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to organize at least one recital/concert, and the energy and creativity to promote the ensemble on campus.
The ensemble will be expected to present a recital at the end of each term.
Required Qualifications*
College-level Javanese gamelan teaching experience
