The University of Miami Department of UMHC - SCCC - Tumor Registrars has an exciting opportunity for a full time Tumor Registrar. The incumbent maintains the database for patients with a malignant or benign reportable disease. The Tumor Registrar also performs the coding, qualitative analysis, quality control, report writing and documentation of these medical records
Core Job Functions
- Identifies, requests, and reviews inpatient and outpatient medical records.
- Reviews eligibility criteria for data collection to include, but not limited to, demographics, history, and stage and extent of disease and treatment.
- Abstracts data and enters database, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Follows up with physicians, healthcare providers, family members, patients, or other reliable resources for clarification of missing or incomplete information.
- Prepares statistical reports, utilizing abstracted data, such as analysis of types of diseases treated and survival data.
- Assists with preparation of charts, tables, graphs, and analysis for inclusion in the annual report.
- Prepares and submits data to other agencies as appropriate.
- Performs quality control checks by reviewing and correcting registry data.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
