Pay Range

The UMass President’s Office expects to pay within an approximate hiring range between $80,000 - $100,000 for this position. The specific pay for this position will be determined by the University based on consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment.

Job Summary

The University Information Technology Services (UITS) department of the University of Massachusetts President’s Office is currently seeking a Business Systems Analyst to provide functional support for PeopleSoft Financials and related enterprise integrations serving all UMass campuses and the President’s office. This is an opportunity to contribute to both reliable operation of financial systems and the ongoing modernization of the University’s technology environment.

The Business Systems Analyst works independently with business and technical teams to analyze complex business needs, identify opportunities for process and system improvements, and develop practical solutions for PeopleSoft and related enterprise systems. The role takes ownership of assigned system enhancements, integrations, projects, testing, documentation, and end-user training. The Business Systems Analyst serves as a trusted partner and experienced functional resource, translating business requirements into effective technology solutions, providing functional guidance, and coordinating technical considerations with appropriate technical resources.

Essential Functions

• Provide independent functional support for PeopleSoft Financial applications, including Asset Management, General Ledger, and PeopleSoft security.
• Independently analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application and operational issues, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Develop and execute test scenarios to validate system functionality, enhancements, integrations, and system changes.
• Independently collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and technical team members to analyze requirements, resolve complex issues, and coordinate implementation of assigned system enhancements.
• Coordinate unit, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing for assigned enhancements and projects, including test planning, execution, issue tracking, and resolution.

• Develop and maintain knowledge content, functional documentation, and support resources.
• Provide functional support for internal and external system interfaces, including analysis and coordination of interface-related issues and changes.
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience)

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in IT, accounting, financial systems, or a related business systems environment.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with persistence and creativity in troubleshooting, analyzing and resolving complex issues.
• Strong understanding of business application processes, data analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and system support.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively use tools such as PeopleSoft Query and advanced Excel.
• Experience with software development life cycle activities, including requirements analysis, testing, implementation, and change management.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical and functional information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with people at all levels of an organization.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and determine when escalation or additional expertise is appropriate.
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience)

• Experience supporting PeopleSoft Financials or another enterprise financial application, particularly Asset Management, General Ledger, and Security.
• Experience analyzing, supporting, or coordinating integrations between PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft Payroll, and third-party systems.
• Experience working in a Higher Education environment, preferably within a complex, multi-campus organization.
• Experience using SQL for data analysis, troubleshooting, and system validation.
• Experience coordinating systems enhancements, testing, and implementations, including leading discrete workstreams or smaller business systems initiatives.
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into functional specifications for assigned enhancements and system changes.
  
  
  

Working Conditions

• This role will have a hybrid work model.
• Periodic weekend and evening work for system maintenance, upgrades, and project implementations to minimize the impact on the campus business calendar and student administration operations.
