General Summary of Position:

The Ghezzi Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a highly motivated full-time Research Laboratory Technician to join an NIH-funded research program focused on investigating host–microbiome interactions in the human oral mucosa. This project leverages advanced in vitro tissue models to study host–pathogen interactions, integrating tissue engineering, multi-omics analysis, and functional characterization. The Research Technician will play a key role in experimental design and execution, data collection and analysis, and mentoring trainees at multiple levels. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in tissue engineering and molecular/functional assays. Prior work with bacterial culture systems is desirable but not required. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive research environment and strongly encourage applicants who are passionate about advancing equity in STEM.

The Ghezzi Lab investigates how multicellular responses are shaped by the native microenvironment, with the goal of engineering biomimetic systems to study these processes both in vitro and in vivo. Our work integrates: Natural polymer design, Biofabrication technologies, and Structure–function relationships in biomaterials. We develop three-dimensional tissue models that incorporate physiological architecture, mechanical cues, and native microstructure to recreate healthy and diseased tissue states.
