Job Description Summary
Organization Summary Statement:The Department of Residential Facilities is responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping services for the College Park Campus' 70 residence halls, Greek chapter houses, and recreational facilities encompassing over 2.7 million square feet. The department employs over 300 exempt, non-exempt, and student staff.
General Responsibilities:
The Housekeeping Supervisor II position provides direct leadership and supervises a staff of 5 to 10 housekeepers in one or more residence halls. The incumbent will assist the Multi-Trades Supervisor II in overseeing a staff of 20-30 housekeepers and, in the absence of the Multi-Trades Supervisor II, assume responsibility for housekeeping operations and services for the housekeeping supervisor area. In addition, the position may require the completion of various housekeeping tasks and projects.
The work schedule for this position is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with rotating responsibility for weekend services and on-call responses.
Physical Demands:
The incumbent may be required to work from ladders or scaffolding; to work in, on, around, over, and under fixed equipment and machinery; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies and/or exert force up to 50 lbs.
The incumbent is to work in hazardous or irritating environments, and adverse weather or temperature conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment, and work on a ladder up to 8 feet in height.
Work will involve repetitive motion. The incumbent will be required to inspect work, which may involve bending, stooping, walking, and climbing.

Additional experience in supervision of housekeeping trades preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION:
EXPERIENCE: Four years in housekeeping in a lead or supervisory capacity.
OTHER:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the procedures, equipment and supplies used in housekeeping. Skill in the use and maintenance of housekeeping tools and equipment; in the selection and application of housekeeping chemicals and supplies; in providing guidance and training to others; in overseeing a large housekeeping unit; in selecting applicants for employment. Ability to plan and supervise the work of assigned housekeeping personnel; to estimate supply and equipment needs; to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaningsolutions; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to lift and transport supplies and refuse; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
OTHER:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The position is an essential employee related to catastrophic, weather, or other emergencies and may be required to come to work, including overtime, when the University is closed to perform general maintenance/clean-up tasks as needed.
