Job Description
Responsible for recruiting clinical and administrative providers to the University of Maryland Medical System hospitals, as well as being responsible for guiding daily work of recruiters and leading Graduate Medical Education (GME) recruitment efforts.
Central Recruitment Contracting
- Serve as a main point of contact and subject matter expert for all system provider recruiting.
- Oversees day-to-day search and recruitment operations and designated staff including mentoring and review of month end financial and outcome results.
- Develop criteria and implement processes for selection, recruitment and staffing of physicians and advanced practice practitioners for products/service lines system wide.
- Responsible for monitoring FMV and compensation trends for physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Responsible for GME recruitment efforts and leading onboarding calls for assigned facilities.
- Ensure operations and processes are in place to meet or exceed recruitment goals.
- Define, identify and execute initiatives vital to successful service delivery. Develop a standardized tracking and reporting mechanism to be shared with senior leadership on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Cultivate relationships with medical schools to create a pipeline for UMMS member hospitals.
- Collaborate with all UMMS member hospitals leadership to achieve system initiatives as developed.
- Provide Oversight to UMMS member org bi-weekly recruitment calls. Monitor metrics, e.g. source, date submitted, interviews, site visits, hires, declinations.
- Serve as a point of contact for locum as assigned.
- Ensures the organization is filling vacancies in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Serve as a main point of contact for hiring external recruitment consultants.
- Prepare a summary of activities through the Active Recruiting Report.
- Attend and participate in various educational programs and professional activities to keep abreast of new developments in the field and improve expertise within the provider recruitment field.
- Monitor healthcare and labor trends; develop innovative recruitment strategies accordingly.
- Ensure recruitment strategy compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, policies and procedures, and internal goals.
- Works with Marketing and Human Resources at hospitals to develop innovative recruitment programs such as targeted advertising, employment open houses, career fairs, direct mail campaigns and search committees. Coordinate advertising in newspapers and specialty publications.
- Regularly evaluate effectiveness of recruitment approach via surveys, focus groups or assessments, including satisfaction, retention and quality of recruits.
- Establish and build ongoing relationships with Medical System leadership and staff.
- Screen potential recruits to determine their competencies and qualifications for employment.
- Obtain references. Ensure applicants’ compliance with local, state, federal, and professional licensure requirements.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field. Four (4) years of work experience may be substituted for required education.
- Five (5) years’ previous experience in the assessment and selection of specialized or hard-to-fill roles (e.g. physicians, licensed professionals, technology).
- Previous experience managing long recruitment cycles, high-touch candidate engagement.
