Principal Responsibilities And Tasks
- Assists, as needed, with clerical responsibilities including participant phone calls, insurance verification, program enrollment, exercise prescription and progression, participation in Mock Codes and Competencies as required by AACVPR. Collaborates with other interdisciplinary team members to implement and coordinate comprehensive educational programs for optimal patient care.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field (required)
- Minimum 1200 clinical hours (required)
- Master Degree (Preferred)
- ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Required) or obtained within 6 months of hire
- CPR Certification (Required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)

- Assist level 2 Exercise Physiologist with departmental procedures. Understanding of CMS, Joint Commission and AACVPR guidelines. Demonstrate proficiency with all job tasks and skills relating to the role of a Clinical Exercise Physiologist within the role of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. - Develops, implements, and coordinates exercise programs and administers medical tests, under supervision, to program participants by applying methods and modalities in an organized and systematic manner according to hospital/department policies. Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the treatment plan to establish reasonable and measurable treatment goals in stated periods according to unit protocol. Responds effectively in an emergency so that the patient's immediate needs are addressed and adheres to all infection control standards specific to patient care. Communicates to the healthcare team the patient's progress, changes in condition, the discharge plan and documents in accordance with established procedures. Documents evaluation, reevaluation, plan, interventions, precaution, emergency interventions and patient education plan, activities, barriers to learning and outcomes in a clear and legible manner. Participates in discharge planning as appropriate and documents discharge assessments. Proficient in the use of emergency equipment; checks code cart/emergency equipment according to policy and facilitates transition of care to ED (if applicable). Assists with teaching group and individual education sessions.
