Job Title: Cardiac Catheterization Technologist
General Summary
The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a skilled Cardiac Catheterization Technologist to join our team. Under general supervision, the successful candidate will perform routine and specialized technical procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory/Interventional Radiology Department.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
- Operates fluoroscopy, digital angiography equipment, applying ionizing radiation to cardiology patients in accordance with standard operating procedures and departmental policies.
- Uses hemodynamic assessment tools to measure vital functions during procedures.
- Operates procedural equipment including intravascular ultrasound, fractional flow reserve, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella, Anglo-Jet, and power injector.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or diploma from an accredited radiologic technology/RCIS/RCES program.
- BLS certification is required; ACLS certification preferred within one year.
- Certification from the ARRT as an RT(R)(CVI), RT(R)(CI) or RT(R)(VI) and licensure by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist.
- Maintenance of 12 contact hours of education every year.
- Cath and EP experience is preferred.
Patient Safety
- Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
- Reports adverse events and near misses to management authority/reporting system.
- Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates them to those in charge.
