What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant III- Orthopaedics position at University of Maryland Faculty Physicians?
Responsible for assisting physicians and nursing staff with patient care in Columbia. Responsible for chart management and patient flow of orthopedic patients. Performs delegated medical tasks and may perform clerical duties. Where the electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the system as documented in the department and/or FPI standard operating procedure and process; and other duties as assigned.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications. EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution
- Medical Assistant certification (such as NAHP, NCCT, AAMA, NHA, AMT, etc.) is required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution. Special circumstances to consider an exception may include: 2 years of supervised work experience in a medical assisting field. Exemptions will be vetted by Human Resources Director and Department Director
- Demonstrated skill in venipuncture
- Graduation from an accredited training program (school) or 5 or more years of supervised work experience in a medical setting
- Ability to perform all medical assisting responsibilities under state and faculty guidelines
- CPR certification required
