The Meyerhoff Scholars Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus offers a distinct emphasis on highly able students who aspire to become leading research scientists and engineers. The program is open to people of all backgrounds committed to increasing the representation of minorities in science and engineering. Position Overview:

This position will provide foundational advising (academic and career), track student progress, and coordinate the day-to-day retention activities for sophomore Meyerhoff Scholars. In addition, the incumbent will develop and facilitate targeted programming to include workshops, seminars, group sessions, and one-on-one meetings promoting academic best practices, graduate pathway preparation, and research engagement. Additionally, this position will support the six-week residential Summer Bridge Program.

Telework:

A limited telework schedule may be available.



Responsibilities:

Advise and monitor individual academic and career progress. Provide one-on-one advising, mentoring, and personal coaching for second-year Meyerhoff Scholars. Provide guidance and monitor program standards on curriculum planning, academic requirements, course selection and registration, academic difficulty, and major or minor options. Coordinate referrals to and collaborate with campus partners to address student questions and concerns. Serve as instructor for UNIV 201 course (1-credit) for sophomore Meyerhoff Scholars. Assist Summer Bridge Coordinator with program leadership with oversight of academic, leadership, life skills, and social programming to support the growth and development of incoming scholars for a six-week Summer Bridge Program.



Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.

The incumbent must have a minimum of three years of experience in collegiate academic advising, mentoring, counseling, or non-profit administration, supporting and equipping students with skills and strategies that promote success. A Master's degree will substitute for up to two years of experience. Must have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and establish effective relationships are required. Must be detail-oriented, work well under pressure, exercise good judgment, and confidentially reconcile differing points of view. Ability to efficiently prioritize, organize, and manage a workload as well as multitask in a fast-paced academic setting, the ability to clearly and
concisely express ideas and positions, both orally and in written form, to all levels of education professionals, students, partners, and constituents is required.



Preferred Qualifications:

A graduate degree in a related field is preferred.

Salary:

Salary: This role ranges from $ 54,000 to $61,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
