What are the responsibilities and job description for the STEM Education Research Associate position at University of Maine?
The purpose of this position is to support data collection and analysis, report writing, and dissemination of findings for project and program evaluations under the direction of the RiSE Center’s Research and Evaluation Coordinator. The STEM Education Research Associate will use qualitative and quantitative methods to support both formative and summative evaluation of projects and programs. The STEM Education Research Associate will also communicate results and findings to project leaders and stakeholders in order to support, inform, and strengthen integration of STEM education research into practice. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $50,000 - $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
We can offer some flexibility with regard to a weekly schedule that includes up to 1-2 days per week of remote work as long as projects can be completed remotely, and we are open to negotiating a part time (32-hour per week) schedule if preferred (with salary prorated accordingly).

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline or in STEM education, or equivalent.
- Experience conducting research in a STEM discipline or in STEM Education, or equivalent.
- Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis.
- Exceptionally strong organizational abilities.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a STEM discipline or in STEM education.
- Experience conducting and coordinating classroom and discipline-based education research or program/project evaluations.
- Experience and attention to working with sensitive data (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA) including familiarity with IRB applications.
- Demonstrated skills in statistics and data analysis.
- Experience with survey development and administration.
