The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a full-time Director of Safety, Security, and Regulatory Compliance.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide a security presence dedicated to providing a safe campus for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. This 12-month position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with various UMS, state, and federal regulations related to safety and security. Additional responsibilities include: conducting investigations, identifying potential problems regarding the welfare/safety of individuals, supervising student security staff, enforcing policies and regulations, coordinating safety training, communicating information, and responding to inquiries. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM-4:30 PM with work outside of normal hours occasionally needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patrols and monitors University facilities and parking areas to ensure a secure and safe environment for students, employees and guests, and to provide assistance as necessary.
Oversees camera monitoring on the UMPI campus and Houlton Center, reviewing footage regularly and as needed in response to campus events.
Enforce laws and University policies and procedures, including but not limited to, Regulatory Compliance with all Federal and State Safety Rules and Regulations.
Develops, implements and continually monitors and improves a comprehensive safety and security plan for the University.
Maintains up to date security procedures and safety information on the UMPI website.
Responsible for oversight of regulatory compliance, including life safety and coordinates and/or conducts safety training to employees as prescribed by the Human Resources Office, Facilities Maintenance Department, the University of Maine System and regulatory agencies.
Collaborates with Human Resources and EEO and the Dean of Students to support compliance with Title IX and Clery Act.
Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary range is $56,000 - $59,000 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Required:
- Law Enforcement certificate from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy
- Valid Driver's License and be an authorized and approved University Driver based on the Driver Administration Policy.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, in police administration, public administration, criminal justice, risk management, business management, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience and currently certified as a law enforcement officer.
