The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, is seeking applicants for a full-time Operations Manager position in the Doctor of Medical Science and Doctor of Executive Leadership Programs for the School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
The Operations Manager for the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) and Doctor of Executive Leadership (DEL) programs must be a highly motivated professional with a demonstrated record of excellence in operations, leadership, and strategic execution. The ideal candidate is an active advocate for health, leadership, and professional education, committed to advancing the future of the programs and supporting the mission of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. This individual will collaborate closely with school leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure effective budgeting, purchasing, workflow optimization, and operational practices that enhance productivity, student services, and overall program performance across both graduate programs.
The faculty and staff supporting the DMSc and DEL programs are skilled educators, leaders, and clinicians dedicated to expanding global impact through advanced clinical and executive leadership education. The Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting this mission by serving as a collaborative leader under the direction of the Program Directors and working in partnership with the dean’s office and institutional administrative units.
The Operations Manager is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the daily operations of the DMSc and DEL programs. The position requires strong organizational skills, independent judgment, and the ability to advance strategic initiatives while ensuring operational consistency and compliance across both programs.
This position reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Program Directors. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Program Directors. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior
Qualifications
Experience/Skills:
- 5 years or more of progressive leadership in higher education or administrative operations
- Proven track record of process improvement, strategic planning, and cross functional team leadership
- Ability to communicate effectively and have the ability to understand, comprehend and follow directions
- Supervisory experience with staff and or faculty
- Ability to manage and delegate tasks, overseeing successful completion.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged standing/setting/wrist movement
- Ability to lift 35lbs.
Required Qualifications:
- Understand the dynamics and objectives of the doctoral education process in regards to the PA profession and other medical professions.
- Understand the management structure of the University and maintain effective relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
- Understand general human resource functions and principles.
- Understand general financial and budgetary processes and principles.
- Understand principles of record keeping and confidentiality (including HIPAA and FERPA compliance).
- Demonstrate mastery with Google Products, Moodle, Colleague/Ellucian, and Slate software.
- Participate in institutional, community, and/or national meetings to remain informed about current academic trends and processes.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
