The ADA Digital Accessibility Coordinator serves as the university’s lead expert and point of contact for ensuring compliance with federal and state digital accessibility requirements—including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA. This position plays a critical role in promoting equitable digital experiences across all university web properties, online instructional content, and digital communication platforms.

The Coordinator will work collaboratively with academic units, IT, marketing/communications, and student services to ensure that the institution’s digital environment is accessible, legally compliant, and aligned with national best practices.

1. Institutional Accessibility Compliance Oversight

• Oversee and coordinate institutional compliance with ADA, WCAG 2.1 AA standards, and other applicable accessibility regulations.

• Manage the VPAT(Voluntary Accessibility Template) review process for all third-party software procurement.

• Conduct regular audits of university websites, learning management system (LMS) content, and digital applications to identify and remediate accessibility barriers.

• Develop, maintain, and implement institutional digital accessibility policies, guidelines, and procedures.

• Review third-party vendor contracts to ensure external partners meet university security and privacy standards

2. Training, Consultation & Capacity Building

• Provide ongoing guidance, consultation, and professional development to faculty, staff, and content creators on ADA-compliant digital design and accessibility requirements.

• Develop training modules and workshops covering topics such as accessible course design, document remediation, multimedia captioning, and inclusive technology integration.

• Serve as a campus resource for interpreting WCAG standards and applying best practices in digital accessibility.

3. Issue Resolution & Complaint Coordination

• Coordinate responses to accessibility complaints, reported barriers, or formal grievances involving digital content.

• Work with relevant offices (IT, Disability Services, Academic Affairs, Legal, etc.) to ensure timely investigation and resolution of accessibility issues.

• Maintain documentation of complaints, corrective actions, and institutional remediation efforts.

• Work with state-based focus groups such as the UL System Task Force teams for statewide initiative as it pertains to accessibility.

4. Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor institutional progress toward WCAG and ADA digital accessibility compliance goals.

• Stay current on evolving accessibility legislation, standards, and emerging technologies.

• Advise the CIO and Provost on emerging compliance trends affecting higher education.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, instructional design, disability services, digital media, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience with ADA or digital accessibility compliance.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of federal and state regulations surrounding digital accessibility in higher education.

• Excellent communication and training skills with an ability to work effectively across diverse departments.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to manage compliance documentation, timelines, and multi-departmental workflows.

Salary : $45,000
