Responsibilities
The Manager of Physical Facilities will be part of the NIRC Senior Leadership team and will report to the Chief Operating Officer. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and compliance of all facility-related functions in a 24-hour non-human primate research environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance of physical operations to support the research center’s mission.

The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and compliance of all facility-related functions in a 24-hour non-human primate research environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance of physical operations to support the research center’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the planning and management of a comprehensive maintenance and operations program to support 24/7 research facility needs.
- Provide leadership to organize, manage, and direct facilities maintenance, plant operations, and associated personnel.
- Ensure routine and preventive maintenance activities are scheduled and executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), processes, and staff training programs in compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Prepare bid specifications and interact with vendors regarding the procurement of equipment, plant operations supplies, and facilities maintenance materials.
- Ensure all purchasing activities adhere to the statutes and regulations of the State of Louisiana.
- Coordinate and collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors for major construction projects and critical equipment repairs.
- Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements issued by the State of Louisiana, AAALAC International, and Federal agencies concerning animal welfare and research facility operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of management experience
- 10 years of facilities management experience in a physical plant/municipality or management experience in a primate research facility will substitute for the degree requirement
- Individuals must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all staff members and visitors of the NIRC as well as UL-Lafayette
