Responsibilities
The New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to serve as the Manager of the Animal Resources Program. This position is responsible for overseeing sanitation facilities, managing personnel assigned to sanitation operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and institutional guidelines. The Manager will coordinate with veterinarians, division heads, and research teams to support multiple breeder programs while ensuring optimal animal care and housing conditions. The role also involves managing non-human primate (NHP) relocations, overseeing food storage and distribution, and ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Job Duties
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree with scientific emphasis preferred with an additional 5 years’ experience in a managerial role in a research environment. 10 years’ experience in management or supervisory role in a research environment may be substituted for both the BS and 5 years of required experience. Individual must have at least 2 years experience managing an animal colony and or animal care facility with responsibility for coordination of breeder program.
Individual must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all staff members, clients and visitors to the Center.

Job Duties
- Manage sanitation facilities and dedicated personnel assigned to operation of sanitation equipment. Oversee day to day operation, preventative maintenance of equipment, standard operating procedure development, implementation and compliance.
- Assist clients/sponsors, division heads, veterinarians and coordinators on multiple breeder programs as applicable.
- Management of dedicated NHP relocation team to facilitate cage change outs, relocations to establish social group formation, pair establishment, and set up of study BSL2 housing.
- Management of personnel and facilities for storage and distribution of perishable food items in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and the Guide.
- Coordinate with colony managers to assure animal husbandry, sanitation, cage change outs, enhanced sanitation for potential pathogenic outbreak preventing cross contamination are accomplished to minimize further outbreaks in area
- Oversight of mobile housing units including sanitation, relocation and transfer of NHPs to accomplish annual and/or
- Coordinate and assure optimal space allocation based on species, size, age, number of animals, programs, etc. regarding multiple breeder programs and/or research holding protocols.
- Coordinate with colony managers to assure facility GLP and /or SOP compliance for multiple breeder programs.
