The Assistant Dean of Campus Integration is a senior leadership position responsible for advancing innovative, high-quality educational programs that connect and unify all College of Medicine campuses. This role plays a pivotal part in enhancing the academic and professional development of faculty and medical students, residents, and fellows through the support and programming across all campuses.
Reporting Structure and Appointment
The Assistant Dean of Campus Integration will concurrently serve as Division Chief of Academic Medical Education (AME). This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Faculty Development and serves at the pleasure of the Dean of the College of Medicine. The role carries a 0.5 FTE administrative commitment, with performance evaluated annually in collaboration with the Associate Dean.
Administrative support will be provided, and the Assistant Dean may supervise staff and other personnel supporting faculty development.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Terminal degree in a discipline appropriate to the College of Medicine.
- Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or higher.
- Eligibility for Kentucky medical licensure (as applicable).
- Demonstrated leadership experience in developing, delivering, or evaluating medical education curricula.
- Proven commitment to educational leadership and faculty development.
- Experience working in multi-campus or distributed academic systems.
Primary Responsibilities
The Assistant Dean of Campus Integration will:
- Lead efforts to create integrated systems across campuses that support faculty development and promote a seamless experience for faculty across the continuum of undergraduate and graduate medical education.
- Develop and implement comprehensive onboarding and ongoing professional development programs for faculty at regional campuses.
- Collaborate with College of Medicine leadership, including Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Graduate Medical Education (GME), and Biomedical Education (BME), to advance the college’s educational mission.
- Foster collaboration among regional campuses, clinical partners, and academic departments to ensure alignment with institutional goals and mission.
- Conduct regular site visits and engage with campus leaders and faculty to identify needs, share resources, and strengthen connections.
- Oversee the faculty appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure processes within the Division of Academic Medical Education.
- Support and oversee the activities of the Academy of Medical Educators, including faculty development programs, retreats, and conferences.
- Organize regular AME faculty meetings and AME Grand Rounds to foster communication, scholarship, and community.
- Develop systems for ongoing evaluation and assessment of AME programs, outcomes, and faculty contributions.
- Collaborate with the Office of Philanthropy to identify and support opportunities that advance educational initiatives.
- Manage division budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and pursue external funding to sustain and grow educational programs.
Administrative Activities
In addition to the responsibilities above, the Assistant Dean and Division Chief will:
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for campus integration that aligns with institutional priorities.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and assessment of faculty development and educational research programs across all campuses.
- Create and maintain systems for efficient communication, resource dissemination, and identification of site-specific needs.
- Promote collaboration across departments and external organizations to create educational and research partnerships.
- Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Division of Academic Medical Education.
