Role Description The Clinic Services Specialist – Temp/Hourly – Cancer Center is a full-time, on-site role based in Iowa City, IA. This position supports clinic operations by welcoming and assisting patients and families, coordinating appointments, and ensuring accurate registration and documentation. The specialist helps manage patient flow, responds to inquiries in person and by phone, and provides information about clinic processes and services. Daily tasks may include verifying insurance and financial information, collecting and recording payments, and collaborating with clinical and administrative teams to support efficient, patient-centered care. The role requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to policies and procedures, and commitment to a respectful, service-focused environment in the Cancer Center.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to accurately process information, verify data, and follow clinic workflows and procedures.
- Candidates should possess Sales and Customer Service skills to discuss services, address patient needs, and support a positive experience in a clinical setting.
- Candidates should possess basic Finance skills to handle payment collection, insurance verification, and billing-related inquiries.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include proficiency with electronic health record systems, strong organizational and time-management skills, reliability in adhering to scheduled hours, and experience in a health care or clinic environment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; post-secondary education in health care administration, business, or a related field is preferred.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, may work anytime between the hours of 7:30am-5:00 pm, 25-40 hours/week, 100% onsite.
Pay: $20.79/hr
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Minimum 6 months of clerical administrative work
- Experience working in customer service
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as a cooperative team member
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable Qualifications:
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience working with EPIC
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience working with data
- Experience working in an outpatient healthcare setting
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues related to customer concerns or workflow changes and challenges
