Summary:
The employee will work in classrooms of varying age groups. The employee will be directly responsible for providing care and education to children, often working as a lead with student employees and at other times, working as an assistant with a full-time staff member. The employee will assist in the preparation of day to day operations, will interact directly with children and families, and will perform other duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities:
High School diploma required; minimum of 60 college credits. Other requirements as determined by the Division of Children and Family Services.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 6 semester hours in child development preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and preparation of appropriate activities that promote the overall growth and development of children.
- Assist in the supervision of children.
- Assist in the daily maintenance of the classroom environment.
- Be aware of the physical needs of children, and ensure that those needs are met. Maintain an awareness of the health needs of children, communicating them to others as required.
- Greet parents and children upon arrival and maintain communication with all staff members.
- Work cooperatively with center staff.
- Be a mentor and positive role model to student employees.
- Be sensitive to the needs of children and families, while respecting the diversity of the families that we serve. Be aware of and to abide by all ethical responsibilities of the University and of NAEYC.
- Assist in the completion of all necessary paperwork (monthly meal counts, attendance records, incident reports, and more).
- Assist with the care and maintenance of the classroom, the equipment, and the materials.
- Participate in any scheduled staff meetings, and/or required in-service trainings.
- Complete 20 annual hours of professional development (prorated based on start date).
