What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Psychiatry position at University of Illinois College of Medicine?

The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate well with leaders in other as well as inpatient services, including the Emergency Department. This position includes teaching and supervision of residents, medical students and other trainees, in both inpatient and outpatient settings and shared on-call duties both as an inpatient attending and as inpatient medical director. The applicant must be a Doctor of Medicine and have completed an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accredited residency in Psychiatry. The applicant must possess or be eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois, a State of Illinois Controlled Substance License, and an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration license, and must be Board-Certified in Psychiatry. Experience and interest in teaching and supervising medical students and residents in an inpatient setting is essential. UIC Psychiatry is one of the largest departments in the Midwest, with a strong General Psychiatry Residency Training Program and several fellowships, including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addictions, and Women’s Mental Health. We are also one of the top ranked teaching departments at University of Illinois College of Medicine, the largest medical school in the country, with both preclinical and clinical teaching and mentoring opportunities. Our clinical services focus on diverse and vulnerable patients, serving predominantly minority and economically underserved populations on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Our inpatient psychiatry unit includes the only Med-Psych unit in Chicago, as well as the only unit that regularly accommodates pregnant patients. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications. The final salary will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements. This position is intended to be eligible for benefits.
