What are the responsibilities and job description for the TH Landscape Maintenance Assistant position at University of Idaho?
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Campus Landscape Manager, the incumbent performs one or more of the following types of work: Assisting Landscape Maintenance Technicians in the fields of landscaping and landscape maintenance; and/or assisting arborist in tree maintenance. Hours of work are dependent on the season.
Required Qualifications
Due to the duties of this position, candidates are required to be at least 18 years of age . Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles. Experience: Working independently without close supervision. Receiving orders, from supervisors and to execute in a safe, efficient and timely manner. Paying attention to details; the ability to tell when something is out of place and take appropriate steps to rectify the problem. Working safely and cooperatively with other team members to accomplish desired results. Interacting with students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors in a positive manner. Maintaining proper dress codes and adhere to safety procedures presented by your supervisor. Experience and willingness to work in areas where landscape pesticides have been used and in irrigated areas where reclaimed water is utilized.
Preferred Qualifications
Education or training: in the fields of horticulture, irrigation, arboriculture, landscape architecture, landscape maintenance or landscape construction. Experience: Safely operating and performing routine maintenance on large and small mowers, weed trimmers and other landscape maintenance equipment. Safely operating various types of landscape maintenance equipment including mowers (both commercial riding mowers and self-propelled push mowers), weed trimmers, small tractors, and various hand and power tools.
