MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.

- Oversees a large department, program or center.
- Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
- Hires and directs the activities of staff.
- Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
- Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
- Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
- Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
- Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Additional Job Duties
- Responsible for the overall condition and performance of all pianos, harpsichords, celestas and autoharps within and owned by the Moores School of Music.
- Performs regular tuning and maintenance of practice room, studio and concert pianos and maintains them at international quality standards. Diagnoses problems, conducts minor repairs and performs routine rebuilding as needed.
- Does special tunings and emergency repairs prior to and during recitals and concerts sponsored by the School of Music during the day, evening and weekends.
- Provides recommendations to the Director on the budgetary and purchasing decisions of instrument inventory, tuning and maintenance .
- Maintains inventory of parts and supplies required for piano maintenance and provides periodic reports on inventory as needed.
- Coordinates the transportation of piano moves for all off-site concerts and recitals away from the Moores School of Music.
- Interprets UH policies and procedures and provides expert knowledge to faculty, staff and interns on basic piano technology, skills and practices.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
