The University of Houston is inviting applications for non-tenure track, part-time, Adjunct Faculty positions to teach undergraduate courses in Sport and Fitness Administration, with preference to courses in Sociology of Sport, Sport Communication and/or Sport Facility and Event Management. Applicants must show evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching at the collegiate level.
The University of Houston is in the heart of downtown Houston, with direct access to many of the sporting events, venues, and contacts that make Houston a “Sport Mecca.” We are looking for someone with sport industry experience as well as academic qualifications.
Candidates are expected to have or be willing to network with sport practitioners in the area to integrate within the courses for practical learning offerings.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check. Individuals conducting research in critical infrastructure areas (i.e., communication infrastructure systems, cybersecurity systems, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment systems, and/or water treatment facilities) are subject to regular review to ensure the security and integrity of the research is maintained.

- Teach courses in Sociology of Sport, Sport Communication and/or Sport Facility and Event Management, (2) foster relationships with local sport organizations for practical course content and assignment integration, (3) syllabus generation (4) course material selection (5) content delivery, (6) assignment preparation, (7) student learning objectives creation and assessment, (8) ability to work and navigate CANVAS platforms, (9) online and face to face modality ability, and (10) work well with current SFA faculty and students.
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Sport Management from an accredited university
- A strong record of quality teaching at the collegiate level (preferably 3 years)
- 5 years of direct sport industry experience at Manager level or above with prior network
- Ability to teach both face to face and online modalities
- Must be located in the Houston surrounding area
