Description:
Student Advocacy & Community is seeking a reliable student assistant to assist in the Center for Student Advocacy & Community in its departmental mission of serving first-generation, former foster-care, pregnant & parenting, and underserved students at UHD.
DUTIES:
• Able to present information to students clearly and positively in both large & and small groups
• Comfortable facilitating workshops & trainings
• Answer and assist with department phone calls
• Perform general clerical work (copying, filing, distributing mail, data entry)
• Interact with all levels of university personnel, students, guests of the university, and the general population
• Assist students, faculty and staff
• Assist with events and initiatives sponsored by the Center for Student Advocacy & Community
• Run errands within the university campus buildings
• Assist the office staff as needed
• Serve as backup for special events within the department
• All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must be available to work 20 hours a week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Must have the ability to multi-task and interact professionally with staff, faculty, and students
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Must be well-organized, responsible, punctual, and a self-starter
• Must have good people skills and a professional attitude and appearance
• Must have effective verbal/written communication skills
• Perform opening and closing procedures and follow all UHD emergency procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be a current UHD student
• Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
