Assistant Director, Accessible Education Center

The Assistant Director, Accessible Education Center is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing disability services for students.

• Oversees the daily operations of the Accessible Education Center initial intake of applicants for academic accommodations
• Maintains a case load of students and develops individual academic accommodations for students each semester of academic enrollment
• Meets with students to review appropriate documentation; conducts screening/intake interviews; determines appropriate accommodations; develops accommodation letters for students; works with students on an ongoing basis developing appropriate and life-long learning strategies; makes referrals for further testing and/or intervention
• Recruits, hires, trains and supervises departmental staff and student professionals
• Manages and oversees the process for proctoring exams for students according to their accommodations including scheduling and coordination of exam materials and needed testing accommodations through direct contact with faculty
• Assists the leadership with monthly staff meetings, data collection and assessment, strategic planning, current and long range forecasting, program/policy procedure development, development of the operating budget, and plans for upcoming fiscal year expenditures
• Assists with coordinating efforts to design and implement training, workshops, and seminars to support students, staff, faculty, and the academic colleges
• Assists with departmental and institutional initiatives and serves as the lead with Enrollment Management on the following initiatives - New Student Orientation Open House, Parent Orientation

• Performs all other duties as assigned
• May be required to work evenings and weekends to support initiatives

Supervision Given:

• Has primary responsibility for conducting performance evaluations and making recommendations for hiring and dismissing employees

Knowledge:

• Demonstrated mastery of all relevant legislation
• Knowledge of the American with Disabilities Act, Rehabilitation Act understanding of accessibility and accommodations in a higher education environment or equivalent
