Description:
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a peer-led academic assistance program designed to improve students’ academic performance and increase retention in courses. SI Leaders facilitate a peer-to-peer learning environment through weekly study sessions. SI Leaders are responsible for attending all lectures for their assigned class, facilitating peer study sessions for their assigned course each week, participating in SI Leader group meetings and training as scheduled, and communicating regularly with the SI Assistant Director and assigned faculty member.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have the capacity to work with students with diverse backgrounds
- Must be committed to work the assigned schedule
- Attend mandatory training prior to Fall/Spring semester and monthly staff meetings
- Must have effective communication skills
Qualifications:
- Must be a current UHD student
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Earned a grade of B or higher in the selected course
