Position Purpose:
This position provides back office documentation and service support to the front line staff and members by having an in-depth understanding of policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state, and NCUA rules and regulations that affect the credit union. This position’s primary duty is to review and process all consumer loans.
Essential Functions:
- Reviews and processes all consumer loan applications per credit union policy and procedure(s), including but not limited to personal loans and personal line of credits, new and used auto loans, and Visa applications received in-branch, online, and indirect.
- As available and with proper training, you may be asked to review, process, and decision home equity loan applications per credit union policy and procedure(s), including but not limited to home equity lines of credit, home equity loans, and green loans.
- Reviews all supporting loan documentation to ensure they meet underwriting guidelines, including but not limited to credit reports for credit history; pay stubs and other income documents; collateral being used as security; third party documentation (dealer contracts, letter of guarantee, valuation, etc.); and miscellaneous documents provided by applicants.
- Refers loans outside of approval authority to manager or designate for decision (pre-approval, final approval, or denial).
- As needed, forward approved applications to designated branch for closing.
- Supports branch staff with loan information needed to assist members.
- Loan documents by obtaining all necessary information and forms to complete documentation accurately.
- Processes paperwork to properly book a loan – securing all collateral, sending documents for recordation, setting up automatic payments, following up and executing automobile liens, follows up on dealer letters of guarantee.
- Purges paid off loans from files and returns appropriate documents to members; updates credit union records, files required lien releases.
- Complies with all requirements of the credit union Customer Identification Program.
- Identifies all cross-sell opportunities and actively sells credit union products and services through daily face-to-face and telephone contact to existing membership and potential members.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Performance Standards:
The following duties are completed in an accurate and timely manner:
- Loans are processed accurately and underwritten to credit union policies and procedures.
- Executed documents are accurate and in compliance with all lending policies.
- No compliance issues on all closed and completed loans.
- Maintain good relationship with all outside vendors
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School degree or GED is required.
Must be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
Required Knowledge:
Basic understanding of MS Office Suite is desired.
Knowledge of lending regulations.
Basic knowledge of financial institution applications.
Experience Required:
Two years clerical/financial institution, loans, processing or customer service experience.
Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good member service skills.
Able to work with a team.
Excellent analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills.
