What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Researcher (Regional Economic Development Policy) position at University of Hawaii at Manoa?
UHERO, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Regional Economic Development Policy, employed through the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaiʻi.
This is a 2-year funded position working on a project at the intersection of regional economics, place-based policy, and institutional design. The goal is substantive and policy-consequential: to develop an implementation-ready model for economic diversification in Hawaiʻi, grounded in comparative institutional evidence, policy governance, and Growth Diagnostics. The postdoc will contribute to both peer-reviewed publications and policy-facing deliverables — including applied analysis of regional development institutions, governance design, and Hawaiʻi-focused case studies. This is an opportunity to do rigorous economics research that connects directly to real institutional change.
We welcome applicants with a PhD in Economics (preferred) or a related field with a strong economics background.
