Indoors in laboratory classroom space (air-conditioned), outdoors in the field, marine environment, on small boats during both rainy and sunny conditions.
Physical Capabilities Required
Must be physically able to lift 40 pounds, physically fit for free diving and in-water snorkel activities.

Essential Tasks Of The Position
- Assists the Program Director to design and deliver educational activities that connect participating students to scientific research using the collective impact approach to providing academic and career instruction in both school-based intra-curricular instruction, community partner provided instruction, and extra-curricular activities.
- Serve as HIMB representative in collaborative education program between the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, Windward Community College and Pacific American Foundation.
- Reports progress and concerns to HIMB Principal Investigator as needed.
- Provide liaison to other scientists and marine researchers that connect to the Kilo Kai activities.
- Lead students to conduct watershed investigations as a series of educational activities.
- Develop lessons that provide students and teachers with sampling protocols for students to collect data that conforms to authentic standards and requirements of actual research projects.
- Assist students to collect and understand data, tabulate, visualize, analyze, and present findings in the larger context of hypotheses to further understanding of our changing environment and the impact of climate changes.
- Support the Project curriculum team to assist participating teachers develop and integrate program field studies into their unit plans, lesson plans, benchmarked with the applicable standards.
- Demonstrated ability to be well-organized, multi-task, pay attention to detail, and effectively manage projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of Hawaii marine ecosystems
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex current marine science research accurately to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to safely lead in and on water programs
- Proven ability to function independently and reliably without direct supervision
