Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dining Commons Assistant Manager to oversee the operations of our dining hall and ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service management, with a focus on team leadership, customer service, and operational efficiency. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing staff, maintaining high standards of food safety, and ensuring the smooth operation of a high volume dining commons.
This is responsible administrative and supervisory work in food service management in a large dining commons. Assists in planning, organizing and directing Food Services personnel in food production and services. Holds regular production meetings with production staff. Assists in conducting regular sanitation inspection program. Work is performed under the direction of the Food Operations (Dining) Manager or Dining Commons Manager, and is evaluated through observation and in terms of customer satisfaction. All other related duties as assigned. Activities and decisions are varied in nature, requiring independent action and judgment in solving common problems. Unusual cases or questionable matters are resolved with position’s supervisor or other appropriate positions.
This shift will be 2:00pm to 11:00pm and weekend shifts are required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily dining room operations to ensure a high-quality guest experience.
- Train, develop, and manage staff to deliver exceptional service and maintain operational standards.
- Oversee food preparation and presentation, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assists in conducting regular sanitation inspection program.
- Implement effective shift management practices to optimize staff performance during peak hours.
- Collaborate with kitchen management to ensure timely food production and service.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly to maintain satisfaction.
- Conduct interviews and assist in hiring processes for new team members.
- Hold regular production meetings with production staff.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant management or hospitality management, preferably in casual or fine dining settings.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team management and staff training & development.
- Knowledge of food handling practices, food safety standards, and culinary experience is essential.
- Familiarity with quick service & fast food restaurant operations is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage guest relations effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous supervisory experience is required; assistant manager experience is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to foster a positive work environment.
