Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida invites applications for an NSF-funded Postdoctoral Associate position in the research group of Clifford R. Bowers . This position focuses on the development of parahydrogen-sourced hyperpolarization methodology for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) signal enhancement. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects aimed at flow-synthesis of hyperpolarized biomolecules in aqueous solution.

This position will be initially awarded for one year, and, contingent upon strong performance and conduct and availability of funds, may be renewed for up to two years.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in experimental chemistry or a closely related discipline by the start date.
  • Strong publication record or other evidence of research productivity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Research experience in one or more of the following areas: hyperpolarization methods, including DNP, PHIP, or SEOP; catalyst characterization; or solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with relevant software packages and/or programming languages, such as Bruker TopSpin, Varian VnmrJ, Mestrelab Mnova, and Python.
  • Experience with flow NMR, laboratory automation, instrumentation design, and/or instrument fabrication.
  • Prior experience mentoring students, trainees, or junior researchers.
