Overview
Provides leadership and supervision for the Nursing service departments assigned to them. Works in close collaboration with the other nursing directors and product line administrators/directors/vice presidents to devise, implement, and maintain effective, evidence-based, and professional nursing practice. Establishes processes to monitor/manage practice throughout the organization to ensure compliance with regulatory, federal, state, and local agencies. Leads departments to excellent performance on BEST and Magnet initiatives. Fiscally responsible for budget performance in assigned areas.
Qualifications
Required Education: Master's degree in nursing, healthcare or leadership related field.
Preferred Education: Doctorate/PhD in Nursing
Required Licensure/Certification:
1. Current licensure as RN in Florida or valid licensure in one of the states under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). If licensed under the eNLC, must obtain FL RN licensure within 90 days of becoming a Florida resident.
2. BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
3. Existing employees are required to have a professional certification by June 30, 2015 or within two (2) years of transfer in the position if the transfer date is after August 1, 2013.
4. Effective January 1, 2015, all new hires or transfers must have a professional certification within two years of hire or transfer.
5. For certifications that require a specified number of cases or hours worked within the specialty, the certification must be applied for once the case/time requirement has been met, and the certification must be obtained within one year of the requirement having been met (e.g. oncology, chemotherapy, diabetes education).
Required Experience: At least 8 years nursing leadership experience overseeing multiple Women's Health departments, including NICU, in an academic environment. Must have prior clinical experience as a registered nurse in this specialty area.
Preferred Experience: 10 years in management/leadership
Supervision: Yes; approx. 400 FTEs
Necessary Skills:
1. Proven professional judgment and decision-making skills.
2. Must possess high degree of resourcefulness as it relates to a thorough knowledge of hospital management principles and practices.
3. Ability to plan, develop and lead programs and activities.
4. Ability to prepare and present reports, concepts, and ideas to administration, staff, and others.
5. Knowledge of the Joint Commission standards, Florida nurse practice act, hospital policies, and professional/specialty standards.
6. Knowledge of CMS and state regulatory requirements for long-term care facilities
