As part of our expansion, we are adding new positions across clinical, administrative, and operational functions to support enhanced patient access, innovative care delivery, and continued excellence in family-centered healthcare.
Located within the University of Florida College of Nursing, Archer Family Health Care delivers high-quality, evidence-based primary care services while serving as a dynamic clinical learning environment for future healthcare professionals. Our team is committed to improving health outcomes, advancing interprofessional collaboration, and providing exceptional care to individuals and families across the lifespan.
The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), Psychiatric Mental Health provides comprehensive, evidence-based behavioral health and psychiatric services at Archer Family Health Care (AFHC), a nurse-led primary care practice operated by the University of Florida College of Nursing. As an integral member of an interprofessional healthcare team, the ARNP delivers high-quality mental health care to patients across the lifespan, with a focus on improving access to behavioral health services within a rural and underserved community.
The ARNP is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with acute and chronic psychiatric and behavioral health conditions in accordance with professional practice standards, evidence-based guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements. Clinical responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, formulating differential diagnoses, developing individualized treatment plans, providing psychotherapy and evidence-based therapeutic interventions, prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and coordinating ongoing care.
Working within an integrated primary care model, the ARNP collaborates closely with primary care providers, nurses, social workers, care coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to address the behavioral, emotional, social, and physical health needs of patients. The position serves as a key behavioral health resource for patients, families, and healthcare teams, promoting early identification, intervention, and treatment of mental health conditions while reducing barriers to care.

Behavioral Health Assessment, Evaluation, and Documentation
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health assessments, including obtaining patient histories, performing mental status examinations, evaluating psychosocial and environmental factors, assessing risk and safety concerns, and identifying acute and chronic behavioral health conditions. Develop differential diagnoses and individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based practices. Accurately document assessments, diagnoses, progress notes, treatment interventions, patient responses, and plans of care in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with regulatory, organizational, and professional standards.

Diagnostic Evaluation, Treatment Planning, and Medication Management
Order, review, and interpret appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and screening tests to support psychiatric evaluation and treatment. Communicate test results and treatment recommendations to patients and families in a clear and compassionate manner. Develop, implement, and manage evidence-based treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic behavioral health conditions across the lifespan. Provide psychotherapy and counseling interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as appropriate, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor treatment effectiveness, and modify care plans based on patient outcomes and clinical response. Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

Clinical Education and Student Precepting
Serve as a clinical educator and preceptor for graduate nursing students by providing mentorship, clinical supervision, instruction, and evaluation in behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management. Facilitate the integration of evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, and professional development while supporting the educational mission of the College of Nursing.

Interprofessional Collaboration and Quality Improvement
Actively participate in monthly interdisciplinary team meetings, provider meetings, case conferences, and care coordination activities to enhance clinical outcomes and improve care delivery. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, program evaluation activities, and evidence-based practice projects, including Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) scholarly projects and other organizational initiatives designed to improve patient care, access, and operational effectiveness.

Professional Development and Program Support
Maintain clinical competency through continuing education and professional development activities. Support clinic operations, policy implementation, and behavioral health program initiatives. Assist with outreach, population health efforts, and other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Archer Family Health Care and the College of Nursing.

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position requires flexibility to work assigned shifts during the clinic's operating hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Employees are expected to work 40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary and are subject to adjustment based on patient care needs, clinic operations, staffing requirements, and coverage needs.
