Marketing and Communications Specialist I
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or an associate's degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The Marketing and Communications Specialist will contribute to the external promotion of high‑priority programs—such as the nationally supported Breeding Insights initiative—and manage content and user experience for flagship UF/IFAS websites including ifas.ufl.edu and supporting sites like research.ifas.ufl.edu. In partnership with internal stakeholders, faculty, subject‑matter experts, and the UF/IFAS media relations team, this position develops and executes integrated communications plans, supports outreach campaigns, and produces engaging content across web, social media, newsletters, and other digital platforms.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute integrated communication plans in collaboration with program teams.
- Create, edit, and publish digital content (web, social, blogs, newsletters) and support media relations needs as they arise.
- Support outreach initiatives, including events, story development, and external communications channels.
- Monitor campaign performance and use analytics to inform strategy.
- Coordinate with vendors, manage production timelines, and maintain relationships with media outlets.
Internal Communications Support
- Produce and edit content for internal newsletters, UF/IFAS platforms, and other faculty/staff communications.
- Collaborate with UF/IFAS creative teams to develop multimedia assets.
- Manage and update flagship web content and maintain internal communications tools such as Teams and SharePoint.
- Ensure communications align with UF/IFAS brand guidelines and are optimized for SEO and user experience.
$50,000-55,000; commensurate with education and professional skills and experience.
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or an associate's degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools.
- Experience with Teams, SharePoint, and other Microsoft Office products.
- Familiarity with web content management systems (e.g., TERMINALFOUR, WordPress).
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinking and creativity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in analytics and performance tracking.
