Context Of Job

Under the general direction of the Director for Global Outreach & Partnerships, the Assistant Director for Global Outreach & Partnerships is primarily responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of international partnerships and agreements activities. This role places an emphasis on project development and management, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement of processes to support Global Outreach & Partnership activities. The Assistant Director independently manages projects and activities with campus-wide scope and related to the operations of international engagement activities, which includes supporting a portfolio of first-semester travel/study programs for the World Scholars Program. The Assistant Director also curates relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support CGPS programming and campus internationalization efforts.

Major Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the negotiation of agreements between University departments and external partners, including the development of draft agreements, working closely with the director, the Office of General Counsel, the International Partnerships & Agreements Committee (IPAC), and other University stakeholders.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Department of State advisories and regulations in relation to potential partnership proposals, through the lens of strategic, risk-related, and compliance concerns, and provides Director with assessment of proposals prior to their presentation to the International Partnerships & Agreements Committee (IPAC).
  • Gathers internal and external partnership data to advise and assist the Director and Vice Provost for Global Engagement in decision making in support of the University’s 360 Global strategies.
  • Leads project management for initiatives related to international partnerships and agreements, including development and documentation of operating procedures for timely tracking of partnership proposals and agreements, utilizing Contracts to improve efficiencies with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops assessment tools and rubrics for reviewing the success of international partnerships and agreements.
  • Provides oversight of the planning for international visiting delegations, working closely with the Global Outreach & Partnerships Program Coordinator to ensure that operational goals are met, and advising the Director on strategic engagement opportunities and immigration compliance issues associated with visits.
  • Supervises the Global Outreach & Partnerships Administrative Assistant and provides day-to-day operational oversight and work direction to Global Outreach & Partnerships Program Coordinator.
  • Coordinates a limited number of first-semester study abroad travel study programs for the World Scholars Program, ensuring program quality, adherence to policies, and process improvements to study abroad policies affecting students and faculty.
  • Manages the assessment of World Scholars Program activities, reviewing evaluation tools and findings to ensure that activities support intended Program outcomes, developing reports to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders, and recommending data-driven actions to support Program growth and enhancement.
  • Collaborates with the Study Abroad team, academic units, the UD registrar, and partner sites to ensure that academic course offerings at World Scholar sites are current and accurate to meet the needs of Program participants and institutional enrollment goals.
  • Assists the Director with budget forecasting for unit, monitors collection and review of invoices, and works with the Business Administrator II, as directed, on financial reconciliations for Global Outreach & Partnership activities.
  • Manages special projects as assigned by the Director and performs other job-related duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, with four years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing international agreements and working in a University setting.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Skilled in data collection and analysis. Ability to develop reports and findings.
  • Ability to plan, implement and evaluate programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of academic policies and procedures, course requirements and prerequisites, and procedures governing credit transfer.
  • Knowledge of Contracts , Terra Dotta database management, UDSIS, student billing, or financial aid systems preferred.
  • Ability to retain and disseminate a varied body of information and employ good judgment, independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.
  • Study abroad or international living experience preferred.
  • Program planning and management experience preferred.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.
