- 21 years of age or older
- Working knowledge of local and state criminal and traffic laws.
- Required to carry personally-owned firearm, not employer-owned firearm. All firearms, ammunition and methods of carry must be approved by the Executive Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police. Event Security Representatives must qualify with that firearm annually by an instructor approved by University of Dayton Department of Public Safety and submit record of that qualification.
- Free of felony convictions and convictions involving misdemeanors of violence or sexual misbehavior.
- Possess the physical ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to become oriented to a large facility while learning and retaining multiple instructions and policies.
- Knowledge of and ability to use the following: two-way radio; ticket scanner; telephone; AED; wheelchair; and stair chair.
- Obtain authorization of secondary employment from other employer if applicable.
- Successfully complete a background check conducted by University of Dayton Department of Public Safety. All hires will be approved by the Executive Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police.
- Complete training and adhere to the Use of Force Policy outlined by the University of Dayton Department of Public Safety.
- Attend any mandatory training set by the Executive Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police. Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays along with committing to working 50% of Men's Basketball games AND 50% of all other non-UD events.
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- Knowledge and use of the following: Two-way radio, Ticket Scanner, Telephone, AED, Wheelchair, Stair Chair, walk through metal detector and hand held metal detector.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The University does not provide work visa sponsorship for this position.
