At the UCHC, this class is accountable for acting as a specialist in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of Community Based Education Programs.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives general direction from an employee of higher grade.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May lead/supervise lower level employees as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Coordinates/implements educational programs.
Facilitates the educational process of students affiliated with a variety of approved institutions.
Develops/writes curricula.
Develops/maintains teaching materials and aids.
Provides technical support to others in the development of health education materials.
Develops collegial relationships with the community and others within the UCHC.
Teaches courses, workshops, seminars and in service training for community agencies for credit and non-credit.
Serves as educational consultant and resource person to medical and other students, community agencies and allied/affiliated institutions.
Serves as a consultant in areas of educational methodology.
Develops/maintains records and reports.
Develops and writes grant proposals.
Participates on appropriate committees.
Writer/editor for various newsletters.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Considerable knowledge of the principles/theories of adult learning.
Knowledge of current educational literature and research in practice.
Considerable knowledge of community systems and resources.
Knowledge of writing/editing.
Skill in planning, developing, implementing and evaluation of educational programs.
Considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills.
Computer skills.
Teaching ability.
Ability to plan curriculum to a targeted audience.
Ability to work under pressure deadlines.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
General Experience:
Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires travel to UConn Hartford & Storrs Campuses.
Experience advising students on courses in high school and college.
Experience counseling students and parents on college enrollment process.
Experience working with underserved students/population.
SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours week, Monday through Saturday, flexible hours. Must be flexible as the hours change based on the variety of programs.
