The Willow Informatics Pharmacist participates in all aspects of planning, design, development and maintenance of new or existing functionality in Epic. This includes providing analysis, development, modification, configuration, installation, programming, testing and maintenance of Willow and an understanding of other Epic application workflows such as EpicCare Ambulatory and Beacon.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED :
Works under the limited supervision of an employee of higher grade, IT Director of Inpatient Applications, or team lead for the module.

Supervises and leads staff and multidisciplinary staff as assigned.

Schedule: 40 hrs per wk, Mon - Fri, 8:00am - 4:30 with a 30 minute unpaid meal break
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides quality assurance review of all electronic medical record medication order design and build for accuracy, safety, and clinical appropriateness before deployment for patient care.
Provides pharmaceutical review of design and build of Electronic Medical Record medication orders, order sets, and electronic ordering systems to assure continuing compliance with evolving medication use practice standards.
Secondary build expert to configure, build & install the application in partnership with the oncology clinicians to review, analyze, and build Beacon protocols, as well research studies.
Facilitating issue resolution and working with application analysts to proactively enhance application design and implementation.
Contributing to development of testing scripts and materials and performing unit, application, and integrated testing tasks.
Documenting and maintaining all required system design and build documents.
Understanding the operational issues within the application well enough to represent user needs.
Analyses new releases features and functions to determine impact and opportunity for enhancements.
Anticipating and providing solutions to complex problems with the necessary priorities.
Presenting solutions to operational leaders within their respective team/area.
Collaborating with vendor resources and playing an active role in managing the technical build, testing and migration of the system.
Promoting a team atmosphere that is conducive to the overall accomplishment of goals, schedules, and deadlines.
Actively participate in team meetings to discuss team and project related activities, issues, changes, communications, and updates.
Supporting end users during go live which may include night and weekend coverage.
Ensure compliance with all institutional and regulatory policies, procedures, safety, and quality assurance.
Maintains professional growth and knowledge of specialty area and industry trends and interprets, generates, and disseminates information to multi-disciplinary teams.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY :
Knowledge of the principles and practices of pharmacy and pharmacology and the application to the operation of a hospital pharmacy or outpatient facility, home-infusion pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, and outpatient clinics.
Knowledge of relevant Federal and State laws and regulations, including USP 797 and USP 800, USP 795.
Independent decision-making, clinical judgement, and in-depth knowledge of pharmacy and therapeutics.
Ability to work with technical automated equipment and information systems.
Considerable knowledge of record keeping and clinical documentation.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of pharmacy and pharmacology and pharmacy operations/services within an integrated health system including billing procedures.
Demonstrated ability to take action to ensure customer and patient satisfaction.
Demonstrated ability to use and apply clinical expertise and experience to design and configure clinical systems EHR solutions.
Knowledge of the principles of systems analysis, design, decision support and data analysis techniques and tools.
Knowledge of applicable clinical standards of practice, policies and procedures as required by State, Federal and regulatory organizations.
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills and ability to research/information seeking.
Strong project management skills and the ability to build consensus across multiple teams and resolve conflicts.
Demonstrated ability to develop complex solutions and application requirements with careful attention to details.
Ability to write and maintain system documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively [oral and written] and present to audiences of all levels, converts technical ideas and situations into clear, understandable and simple terms.
Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment, utilizing tele-platforms.
Proficient in M365 including Outlook, Teams, Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Pharm-D or bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
Must possess and maintain license as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Connecticut.
Three years of clinical hospital experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbents in this class must have, or achieve within six (6) months of hire Epic Willow certification and maintain certification while in the position.
Travel to Epic's corporate office in Madison, Wisconsin may be required.
PREFERRED:
Experience with medication build and maintaining the Epic environment for Willow end-users.
Clinical experience with inpatient adult acute care, ED, NICU, oncology, and/or research.
Familiarity with infusion workflows and processes for Beacon and Willow
Experience with coordinating system development and implementation with relevant clinical operation initiatives.
Experience with Med load process, 340B, Infusion pump integration with Epic, ServiceNow, and/or HCPCS.
Technical knowledge of pharmacy equipment including automated distribution devices (e.g. DoseEdge, Pyxis, etc.)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May be required to work some flexible hours to meet project deadlines or business needs.
May be required to be on-call
May be required to travel within the state of Connecticut
May be exposed to hazardous materials,infectious/communicable diseases and disagreeable conditions
