Assistant Professor (Research)- Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the UConn Musculoskeletal Institute invites applications for a research scientist position at the Assistant Professor level. Outstanding individuals working in musculoskeletal biology, pathobiology, and regeneration who want to make a difference in the field of musculoskeletal and orthopedic research are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. and/or an M.D. degree is required, and an MD-Ph.D. is an asset. Candidates' research should be aimed at tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications for musculoskeletal tissues particularly in the area of spine metastases, addressing fundamental questions related to materials for local therapeutic delivery. We are also interested in individuals with a strong background in interdisciplinary research pertaining to intervertebral disc, spinal ligament repair, leveraging subcellular metabolic modulation. The candidate should demonstrate a track record of securing extramural peer-reviewed funding, relevant publications, running a successful research program, and supervising graduate students.
The University of Connecticut School of Medicine has a highly interactive research environment in musculoskeletal biology with interdisciplinary graduate and medical science training programs. The Musculoskeletal Institute offers a collegial environment and houses investigators working in various aspects of skeletal cell biology and the biomechanics of bone. Appropriate laboratory space and a start-up package will be offered.
