The School of Education invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education. We seek a scholar with a strong or promising research trajectory in mathematics education and experience teaching in elementary classrooms who will strengthen our undergraduate, teacher licensure, and graduate programs by contributing expertise in mathematics education, expanding course offerings in elementary mathematics methods, and fostering meaningful partnerships with local school districts.
The expectations for this position are to maintain an active research program; teach elementary education courses and other courses in our undergraduate and graduate programs; contribute to elementary licensure preparation; and support equitable evidence-based mathematics instruction for learners who have been historically underserved. We particularly welcome applicants whose research addresses K-8 mathematics education, especially K-5 teaching, learning and teacher preparation.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Maintaining an active, thoughtful and compelling research agenda and corresponding publication record that demonstrates a coherent progression of scholarship in K-8 mathematics education.
- Seeking grant funding to support a research agenda and graduate students.
- Contributing to the School's undergraduate teacher education, licensure, master's, and doctoral programs.
- Advising undergraduate students; advising and mentoring graduate students.
- Providing outreach and leadership to schools, districts, campus partners, professional organizations, and broader communities.
- Teaching undergraduate elementary mathematics education courses, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics education, courses in teacher learning and practice, and student assessment.
- Supporting the development of equitable, inclusive, culturally responsive, and evidence-based mathematics education curricula, with particular attention to preparing educators to support historically marginalized, multilingual, and emergent bilingual learners.
- Building and sustaining meaningful partnerships with local schools, districts, educators, and communities to strengthen elementary mathematics teaching and teacher preparation.
- Contributing service to the program, School, university, profession, and broader community.

- The workload for this role is 40% research, scholarly, and creative work, 40% teaching, advising & mentoring, and 20% service.
- Tenure-track faculty are expected to teach four courses per academic year, and all courses are typically taught in person on campus.
What We Can Offer
The salary range for this nine-month faculty role is $87,500 - $97,500, plus an $8,000 relocation allowance as applicable.

What We Require
- Doctorate in mathematics education, curriculum and instruction, teacher education, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- A record of scholarly productivity-or demonstrated promise of such-in mathematics education.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: early elementary mathematics education; mathematics teaching and learning; equitable and inclusive mathematics instruction; mathematics teacher learning and development; or social and cultural contexts of mathematics education.
- PK-12 teaching experience in U.S. schools, preferably at the elementary level.
- Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate level and demonstrated capacity to prepare elementary teachers to teach mathematics.
- A record of working successfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds and fostering a strong sense of community and belonging.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Three or more years of elementary teaching experience in U.S. schools.
- Expertise in elementary mathematics education, particularly early elementary mathematics teaching and learning.
- A research agenda focused on educational equity, justice, and access to high-quality mathematics learning opportunities.
- Expertise in supporting educators working with culturally and linguistically diverse students, including emergent bilingual learners, in mathematics education settings.
- Knowledgeable about the affordances and constraints of contemporary digital technologies (particularly GenAI) to support teaching practice and student learning.
- Experience supporting teacher licensure programs.
- Experience developing partnerships with schools, districts, educators, or community-based organizations.
