Working knowledge of electrical diagrams and circuits, and familiarity with NEC will also be needed.

Responsibilities
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical equipment and devices within district energy plants. This includes VFD’s, motor starters, UPS systems, electrical distribution systems and a variety of industrial control and metering devices. Willingness to learn and assist with I&C and Medium Voltage tasks (15KV). Troubleshoot and diagnose issues specific to plant automation controls used in a utility plant environment. Perform regular maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Ensure all work follows national and local electrical codes, safety regulations, and University standards.
- Work with other groups and departments on campus to generate LOTO’s and safety procedures, troubleshoot electrical metering, coordinate outages, respond to customer demands and supervise contractors. Collaborate with plant operations and maintenance teams to identify electrical needs and provide recommendations for improving plant performance and safety. Communicate with supervision and/or coworkers on system needs and assignments.
- Maintain documentation of plant repairs and PM’s. Schedule and organize work tasks, ordering parts and material, analyzing trends and data, and reviewing drawings and schematics.
- This in-person position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday-Friday during regular business hours. The successful candidate must be willing to respond to plant and campus emergencies/outages.
- This position is eligible for our Facilities Management Employee Referral Program .
- The salary range is $78,000 – $92,000, depending on experience.
- Relocation assistance is available per department guidelines.

What We Require
- 2 years experience of electrical maintenance in a plant/industrial environment.
- 5 years of general electrical experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work on and around voltages ranging from 24V-15KV.
- Ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints related to power distribution systems, plant control systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory.
- Proficient in using basic hand and power tools.
- Communicate effectively and form relationships.
- Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Understanding of process controls.
- Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
- Knowledge and experience with high pressure gas and liquids, processing equipment, medium voltage equipment, pumps, gas turbine engines and compressors.
- Knowledge or prior experience with boilers, chillers and associated equipment.
- Experience with AC and/or DC controls.
- Experience with instrumentation devices.
- Experience with diagnostic electrical test equipment.
