Responsibilities
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Complete a rough inventory of incoming donation specimens.
- Work with Collection Manager to create a specimen management plan.
- Sort specimens to Order, then Family level.
- Identify specimens to species where possible, or genus level using literature and specimens in the CUMNH Entomology Collection as reference materials.
- Create and update a spreadsheets accompanying the specimens that will be used to database the specimens.
- Curate specimens once identified.
- Follow best practices for safe specimen handling.
This is a temporary, summer 2026 position.

What We Require
- Working toward a Master’s degree in Museum & Field Studies.
- Knowledge of Insect taxonomy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work with small delicate objects.
- Experience working in Entomology Collections.
- Willingness to work with dead insect specimens.
- Experience managing spreadsheet data.
