| Job Summary: | The Section of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver seeks an Open Rank: Instructor - Professor of Clinical Practice board certified/board eligible pediatric intensivist to serve as Medical Director for the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Children's Hospital Colorado's new freestanding children's hospital in Colorado Springs. The selected candidate will have clinical, operational and financial responsibility for the 16-bed (PICU).
The Medical Director's scope of responsibility will include practice management, operational efficiency, business development and delivery of outstanding provider and patient service. In the role, they will lead the integration of care for critically ill children across all hospital services by collaborating with peers from emergency medicine, surgery, trauma and various subspecialties. As the PICU's clinical leader, the Medical Director will be a key member of the CHCO Colorado Springs's clinical leadership team and will participate in strategic and operational discussions affecting both the unit and the hospital.
The Medical Director will be expected to work as an attending physician and provide care for critically ill children in the CHCO Colorado Springs PICU. Practice assignments and the allocation of effort will be dependent upon the staffing model designed and resources available. Key Responsibilities: Include but not limited to: * Work collaboratively with CHCO administration and other hospital service directors in all specialties (medical, surgical, nursing, etc.) * Determine strategic vision and provide medical oversight for clinical operations of CHCO Colorado Springs PICU * Ensure responsive, high-quality and consistent service to all customers of the CHCO Colorado Springs PICU * Ensure development of a high-quality providers with provisions for ongoing professional growth and development * Develop and maintain appropriate forums for ongoing faculty education and development

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor of Clinical Practice based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Instructor of Clinical Practice: * Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine * Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care * At least three (3) years as practicing pediatric intensivist Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice: * Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine * Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care * At least three (3) years as practicing pediatric intensivist Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice: * Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine * Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care * At least three (3) years as practicing pediatric intensivist Associate Professor of Clinical Practice: * Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine * Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care * At least three (3) years as practicing pediatric intensivist Professor of Clinical Practice: * Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine * Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care * At least three (3) years as practicing pediatric intensivist

Preferred Qualifications: * Clinical expertise in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. * Experience developing clinical programs. * Physician leadership experience * At least three years of physician leadership experience
