UChicago Career Advancement’s programs build on the world-class UChicago liberal arts foundation to give students a competitive edge in their professional development and recruiting in a wide range of roles. The person in this role will utilize previous experience to prepare students for professional success through employer outreach, one-on-one advising and coaching, planning and executing programs and workshops, and supporting program administration including reporting and analytics. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, adaptable, solutions-oriented, and a talented individual contributor with a background in industry and a record of success in complex, fast-paced environments where collaboration is critical to success.


The Assistant Director, Career Advancement will lead initiatives to prepare and connect undergraduate students at the College to impactful careers in artificial intelligence (AI) across industries. This role will design and drive strategic initiatives that expand students’ awareness of and access to career pathways in business, technology, healthcare, climate science, government, public policy, and beyond.


This role will lead career exploration and readiness programming to support students pursing careers in artificial intelligence and technology.


The Assistant Director will also cultivate partnerships to generate internships, research collaborations, networking events, and other immersive experiences that give students hands-on exposure to the evolving AI landscape. This role will also advise students individually and in groups providing guidance on AI career exploration and recruiting support.


This is a primarily in-person position based on our campus in Hyde Park in Chicago, IL.

Desired Qualifications


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required


Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience.
  • Experience with AI technologies in an industry setting.
  • Experience in program design and delivery; partnership management; project management, customer relations, program administration, etc. is preferred.


Preferred Competencies

  • Experience with data science, data analytics, and/or AI competencies is highly preferred. Candidates with STEM degree or STEM industry also preferred.
  • Exemplary organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be highly flexible, adaptable, and comfortable shifting priorities on short notice.
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • High degree of professionalism when interacting with internal and external constituents.

Salary Range

$80,000-$110,000
