Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program by the Department of Education and provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves students from the Oklahoma City Metro area, including Star Spencer High School, Crooked Oak High School, and Capitol Hill High School. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.
Position Overview
Upward Bound Central Prep (UB Central Prep) Instructors are responsible for providing in-person instruction to college-bound high school students in specific topics/content areas during the on-campus six-week summer session with classes running M-W June 15 - July 16, 2026. UB Central Prep is currently seeking instructors for the following subjects: Foreign Language, Math, Science, Composition, English Literature, and Reading. The instructor will develop curriculum materials and implement a course of instruction in the specialty area which provides students with the opportunity to enhance their academic skills necessary to successfully complete high school, matriculate through a post-secondary institution and graduate. Orientation will be June 1 & June 2 with the University and the UBMS program.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Prepare a syllabus, curriculum, activities/assignments, and assessments for subject areas. Prepare for and meet classes as assigned and maintain a safe learning environment. Participate in-service training sessions as scheduled. Evaluate and prepare reports of ongoing student progress. Complete student assessment forms. Request and assist in maintaining department equipment, supplies, and materials. Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices to provide injury and illness prevention for self and others. Participate in the end-of-program achievement awards reception. Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Primarily responsible for executing routine procedures with direction from senior staff.
Reporting Relationships
Generally, reports to manager or higher but may receive basic operational direction and guidance from senior level staff members.
Qualifications Required
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in education or subject area, at least one (1) year of teaching experience at the high school level or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications Preferred
Previous TRIO experience. Knowledge of best practices in teaching. Ability to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans to high school students preparing for college Experience with inquiry-based hands-on learning experiences. Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds. Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population. Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.
