Job DescriptionThe Outpatient Pulmonary Clinical Nurse II, under the supervision of the Clinical Manager and Practice Manager, delivers direct patient care to adult pulmonary and ILD outpatient population in multiple sub-specialties. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the pulmonary disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Pulmonary Nursing Society/Standards of Pulmonary Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization.
S/he is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily operations. The Clinical Nurse II utilizes the nursing process for patient care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic clinical care. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patientâs physiological and psychosocial developmental level and needs. S/he consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor. S/he will assist with management of patient care administered by the UCSF Pulmonary Center physicians and other members of the clinical and nursing team.  S/he will consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor and shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: - This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. - Minimum 2 yearsâ recent RN experience in an outpatient medical specialty setting (within the past 2 years). - Training and experience with electronic health record. - Flexibility is required to orient with various operational needs. - This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Preferred Qualifications: - 1-2 years experience working with EPIC/APEX platform. - Bilingual capability strongly preferred. - Pulmonary Experience - Previous experience administering biologics and airway clearance teaching. - High level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills preferred.
