Job Description
The Enterprise System Project Manager applies advanced technical project management frameworks and methods in conjunction with Campus and UCSF Health  objectives to plan and execute projects in the enterprise administrative application domain (ERP and Web Systems). The Project Manager is an experienced technical/functional professional who can resolve highly complex issues in which analyzing situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The Project Manager determines methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results, and manages projects of broad and diverse scope, size, impact, budget and/or project team size, with considerable impact to the organization.
The Project Manager will manage the Oracle cloud ERP projects as well as the enterprise ecosystem, including Oracle releases and enhancement projects. The scope of this project includes the transition to the new ERP platform itself as well as the associated development of required custom functionality, reporting, interfaces, and other applications and middleware to replace previous customizations and other end-of-life business systems that comprise the enterprise systems environment. The person in this role will be accountable for ensuring the project meets agreed upon scope, cost, schedule, and quality measures.
The position requires extensive Oracle Cloud systems experience, a thorough understanding of the interdependencies among systems and processes, knowledge of higher-education and medical entities' financial and administrative needs, and strong leadership, communication, presentation and project management skills to identify and resolve issues, develop deliverables and timelines, manage stakeholder expectations, and handle post deployment adjustments
Department OverviewÂ
The UCSF IT Department provides centralized IT services to all aspects of the UCSF mission including patient care, research and education in addition to support for enterprise-wide administrative systems. Additionally, UCSF IT works closely with a variety of more specialized departmentally based IT services to provide common services, IT architectures and frameworks in the areas of infrastructure technology, integration / interfaces, information management (e.g. master data management, clinical data warehousing), security, enterprise systems of record and IT service management processes and tools. Additionally, UCSF IT is actively engaged at the UC System level to identify and implement leveraged solutions and services but also to leverage the experience and skillset across the UC system to meet the rapidly escalating information technology needs of the institution. This offers employees the opportunity to be exposed and engaged in a broad swath of the UC business and advanced technologies and professionals within UCSF and the UC System.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. - 5 years of experience managing projects in enterprise applications. - Minimum 5 years of related experience - Expert knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and frameworks with demonstrated success delivering large-scale, complex enterprise programs - Proven experience leading Oracle Cloud ERP (HCM, Finance, SCM) implementations, enhancements, and release management cycles - Strong experience managing hybrid portfolios including:- ERP platforms - Enterprise web/portal (e.g., Drupal) - Custom application development - Deep understanding of enterprise architecture and integration patterns, including APIs, middleware (e.g., MuleSoft), and cross-system data flows - Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end delivery including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and stakeholder expectations across large, cross-functional teams - Experience managing complex system integrations, data migration, reporting, and extensions within enterprise ecosystems - Demonstrated ability to lead Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models, adapting approach based on project type (ERP vs digital) - Ability to drive product-oriented delivery, including backlog management, prioritization frameworks, and continuous improvement models - Demonstrated ability to anticipate risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage competing priorities in high-pressure environments - Proven leadership skills with experience leading cross-functional teams, influencing without authority, and mentoring project managers - Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence executive leadership and diverse stakeholders - Strong vendor management experience, including working with system integrators (e.g., Deloitte) and third-party partners - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across business, IT, and operational teams to deliver organization-wide outcomes PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with executive-level management on a regular basis. - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. - Professional certification preferred.
